잭과 콩나무
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack who lived with his mother.
옛날 옛적에, 잭이라는 소년이 엄마와 함께 살고 있었어요.
They were very poor and had only one cow.
그들은 매우 가난했고, 오직 한 마리의 소만 있었어요.
One day, Jack's mother said,
어느 날, 잭의 엄마가 말했어요,
"Take the cow to the market and sell her."
"소를 시장에 가서 팔아 오너라."
On the way to the market, Jack met a man who offered him magic beans for the cow.
시장으로 가는 길에, 잭은 한 남자를 만났어요. 그 남자는 소 대신 마법의 콩을 주겠다고 했어요.
Jack thought the beans were special, so he took them and went home.
잭은 그 콩이 특별하다고 생각해서 그것을 받고 집으로 갔어요.
When Jack showed his mother the beans, she was very angry.
잭이 엄마에게 콩을 보여주자, 엄마는 매우 화가 났어요.
"You traded our cow for beans!" she cried, throwing the beans out the window.
"너는 소를 콩이랑 바꿔왔구나!" 엄마는 소리치며 콩을 창 밖으로 던졌어요.
That night, something amazing happened.
그날 밤, 놀라운 일이 벌어졌어요.
A giant beanstalk grew from the ground all the way to the sky!
거대한 콩나무가 땅에서 하늘까지 자라났어요!
The next morning, Jack saw the beanstalk and decided to climb it.
다음 날 아침, 잭은 콩나무를 보고 올라가기로 결심했어요.
He climbed and climbed until he reached the top.
그는 계속해서 올라가서 마침내 꼭대기에 도착했어요.
At the top, Jack found a huge castle.
꼭대기에서 잭은 거대한 성을 발견했어요.
He went inside and saw a giant counting gold coins.
그는 성 안으로 들어가서 거인이 금화를 세고 있는 것을 보았어요.
Jack hid behind a table and waited until the giant fell asleep.
잭은 테이블 뒤에 숨었고, 거인이 잠들 때까지 기다렸어요.
When the giant was asleep, Jack took some gold coins and quickly climbed back down the beanstalk.
거인이 잠들자, 잭은 금화를 챙겨서 콩나무를 타고 빠르게 내려왔어요.
Jack and his mother were happy, but Jack wanted to go back for more treasures.
잭과 엄마는 기뻤지만, 잭은 더 많은 보물을 찾고 싶었어요.
So the next day, Jack climbed the beanstalk again.
그래서 다음 날, 잭은 다시 콩나무를 올라갔어요.
This time, Jack saw the giant with a golden harp that could play by itself.
이번에 잭은 스스로 연주하는 황금 하프를 가지고 있는 거인을 보았어요.
Jack waited until the giant fell asleep, then he took the harp and ran.
잭은 거인이 잠들 때까지 기다렸다가, 하프를 가지고 도망쳤어요.
But the harp started playing loudly and woke the giant.
하지만 하프가 큰 소리로 연주를 시작하면서 거인을 깨웠어요.
The giant chased Jack down the beanstalk.
거인은 잭을 쫓아 콩나무를 내려왔어요.
When Jack reached the bottom, he grabbed an axe and chopped down the beanstalk.
잭이 땅에 도착했을 때, 그는 도끼를 집어 들고 콩나무를 베었어요.
The beanstalk fell, and the giant crashed to the ground, never to be seen again.
콩나무가 쓰러지면서 거인은 땅에 떨어졌고, 다시는 보이지 않았어요.
Jack and his mother lived happily ever after with their treasures.
잭과 엄마는 보물들과 함께 행복하게 살았어요.
