Words I Never Said

I told you "I’m fine," when I wasn’t at all
Smiled through the pain, let myself fall
I should’ve said, "Don’t go, I need you to stay"
But I let the moment slip away
Now the silence speaks louder than my voice
And I’m drowning in my choice
All the words I never said
Still echo inside my head
They cut deeper than goodbye
Like a story left untold, left to die
I wrote it down, but tore the page
Kept my heart locked in a cage
Swallowed pride, but lost my way
Now those words just haunt my days
If I could turn back time, I'd change it all
But some words are meant to fall
All the words I never said... still remain
