I read a news today, oh boy, about a lucky man who made a grade.
오늘 난 소식을 들었죠. 이런, 등급을 만든 행운아에 대한 얘기였군요.
And though the news was rather sad, well I just had to laugh.
그리고 그 소식이 다소 슬프기는 했지만, 난 그저 웃어넘여야 했죠.
I saw the photograph. He blew his mind out in a car. He didn't notice that the lights have changed,
난 또 사진 한장을 보았어요. 그는 차 밖으로 그의 마음을 날려 보냈죠. 하지만 그는 교통신호들이 변했다는 걸 알아채지 안았죠.
A crowd of people stood and stared. They've seen his face before.
한 무리의 사람들이 서서 응시했죠. 그들은 그의 얼굴을 예전에도 본적이 있죠.
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of Lord.
하지만 아무도 그가 주님의 집에서 온 사람이란 걸 확신하지 못했죠.
I saw a film today, oh boy, The English army had just won the war,
오늘 난 영화도 한편 보았죠. 이런, 영국 군대가 전쟁에서 승리했더군요.
A crowd of people turned away, But I just had to look,
군중들은 마음을 돌렸지만, 나는 보아야 했죠.
Having read the book.
그 책(Book on Marx - From the 'American Pie')을 읽고 말이죠.

Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
위층 계단 길을 찾아 올라가 담배를 한대 피웠죠,
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream.
그리고 누군가 내가 꿈속으로 숨어버렸다고 말했죠.

I heard the news today, oh boy, four thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire,
오늘 난 소식을 들었죠. 랭커쉬어 블랙번의 사천개의 구멍들에 대해서 말이죠.
And though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all.
그 구멍들은 다소 작기는 했지만, 난 그 구멍들을 다 헤야려야 했죠.
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
이제 사람들은 알죠. 알버트 회관을 채우기 위해 얼마나 많은 구멍들이 필요한지를.
