모처럼 시원한 메탈 사운드를 들려주는 더블드라이브는 애틀랜타 출신으로 네 명의 멤버로 이뤄져 있다. 1996년에 결성되어 3년 간 미국의 남동부를 돌면서 투어를 감행했고 덕분에 이름이 알려지면서 1998년에는 애틀랜타의 주목받는 메탈 밴드로 떠올랐다. 그리고 이듬해 1999년에 정규 데뷔 앨범 [1000 Yard Sale]을 발표했다.
데뷔 앨범으로 크리드나 데이즈 오브 더 뉴의 통쾌한 사운드와 비교되곤 했던 더블드라이브는 두 번째 앨범 [Blue In The Face]에서도 기교를 부리지 않는 명쾌한 음악들을 들려준다. 밤 11시 59분의 미묘한 시간 관념을 노래한 ‘11:59’은 경쾌한 드러밍과 보컬로 더블드라이브가 어떤 밴드인지 알려주며 앨범을 시작한다. 발라드 ‘Million People'은 보컬 도니 햄비의 로맨틱한 보컬이 매력적인 곡이고, ’I Don't Care'는 리듬으로 듣는 사람을 흥겹게 만든다. ‘Freightrain'은 한 번 듣고도 쉽게 멜로디를 흥얼거릴 만큼 쉽게 다가오며, 힘찬 드러밍으로 포인트를 주는 ’Track Number 7‘ 또한 더블드라이브의 색다른 매력을 전한다.★oimusic★
